It's a Howdy Challenge

Hi there! Liliana here and ready for another challenge week. Let me tell you that I am so excited today because this is my first challenge as a host. But first, I want to thank everyone who participated in last week's photo inspiration challenge, your cards were wonderful!

There are some changes at Our Creative Corner.  The format for our guest designers starting in October has been changed. We will be having Top Talent Thursdays. Our challenge winners will be center stage on Top Talent Thursday. We'll bring you a mini interview with them and they will be able to share a project of their choice with you.  How would you like to be part of this?  All you have to do is participate in our challenges and you never know - we may pick you as our Top Talent!

Check out Our Creative Corner Blog for more details, and to get inspired by the wonderful creations the Design Team has created for you!! So let's get creating and we look forward to seeing what you come up with!

For this week's challenge, I have another picture to inspire you, but this time we'll go to the country.

Here are the requirements:

-Create a card or project with a country or western look. Use the photo to inspire you.
-Your project must have something plaid or gingham (checkered/tartan is acceptable too!), such as in a ribbon, or designer paper.
-Most of all, have fun!

FM #78 .... Let's Get Twiney!!

Wow we are having wonderful challenges lately! Ok, I really love all our challenges but this time of the year is so special for me. Those who know me know that I love cold weather, and we don't have cold weather here in Miami! At least not the cold I love and I am used to before I came to live in Miami, and sadly I can't get used to this type of heat. Besides the weather, my family's birthdays and my favorite holidays are during this time of the year. As you can see there are several reasons I love the second half of the year, and because of that I am enjoying so much our challenges which are related to autumn and the colors that we have to use to create our projects (Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard) energize me.

Back to our weekly challenge in The Friday Mashup, we have to create a card or project using leaves and /or twine. Lisa is our host this week and she is a winter girl, woohoo way to go girl. If you visit the Friday Mashup blog you can see  all the wonderful creations the Design Team has come up with to keep you inspired. Hope to see all of you in the gallery!!

To create my card I used Day of Gratitude stamp set ( W120835 C 121148), Window Frames Collection (129021). I painted the stamp with Early Espresso marker (119680), Pumpkin Pie marker (105115), Cherry Cobbler marker (119681), Gumball Green marker (126856) and Daffodil Delight marker (119677). I  created the spattered look using the Color Spritzer Tool (107066) and the Early Espresso marker.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!
Happy stamping!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a "Fall Leaves" themed project.
  2. Or Make a project with "Twine".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Fall Leaves Themed project using Twine".

    Photo Inspiration Challenge

Hi to all my dear followers! What a fun challenge we have this week at Our Creative Corner. It consists on creating a card/project using the photo as inspiration, two or more buttons and polka dots somewhere. Check the Our Creative Corner blog for more details and to see what the DT has created to  keep your creative juices flowing.

I created my card using the colors of the photo, two buttons which are one on top of the other, and the polka dots designer papers on the stripes.  I wasn't very inspired when I made this card so I tried to keep it simple, and I am pleased on how it came out. Hope you like it!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

FM #77: Indian Summer, the dead summer's soul

Good morning from this part of the world! Today we have the new challenge for the Friday Mashup and one of my favorite themes "Indian Summer", where the colors for this challenge energize me: Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Lucky Limemade and More Mustard.

I love, love fall and I am so ready to have it here. It doesn't happen here in Miami though, but I dream with the gorgeous array of colors that pop out in the trees during this time of the year in other parts of the country.

So as I told you, I got very inspired by this challenge that our talented Heidi has prepared for us this week. To create my card, I embossed a piece of Early Espresso Core'dination Cardstock using the new Fancy Fan Folder (127751) and then sanded it with the new Sandin' System (129367). I also used the Labels Collection Framelits (125598) to open the window to be able to stamp the sentiment, which is from the Word Play stamp set (W 120308, C 120651). The leaves from the French Foliage stamp set (121166) were stamped using the colors of the challenge, cut out and with dimensionals added to the card. The button is from Natural Designs Buttons (127554) and the bow was made out of Linen Thread (104199). Hope you like it!!

Thanks for stopping by and check out the FM blog to get inspired by the creations of the rest of the DT.

    Have a wonderful weekend!!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
    1. Make a "Indian Summer" themed project.
    2. Or Make a project with any three colors from "Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Raspberry Ripple, Lucky Limeade & Early Espresso".
    3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Indian Summer Themed project with the color combo".

It's a sketch challenge for OCC

Our talented Chris hosts the challenge this week for Our Creative Corner. There are two criteria for the challenge:
    1- Make a card for a male
    2-Use the sketch
3-(Optional) you can also use a monochromatic color scheme.
Check out the OCC blog to see what the DT has created to inspire you!

I created the card following the criteria; it is for male, I used the sketch and a monochromatic color scheme. I used the Early Espresso Core'dinations Cardstock (127848) for the background. First, I embossed it with the Woodgrain embossing folder (127821) and then sanded it with the new sanding system (129367). I love the vintage look that those elements give to the card. I used burlap for the horizontal strips and knots for the ends. For the boat scene, I stamped the background with Crumb Cake ink (121030). To give the background that soft look, I first stamped the image on a piece of paper I had lying around, and then stamped it on the cardstock. The compass was stamped with Early Espresso ink (126974). The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Banners (W 126255, C 126257).

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

    FM #76: It's a Starburst Sketch

Another wonderful challenge for the Friday Mashup. Rita is our host this week and she has planned this challenge where you have to follow the sketch and/or apply the starburst technique. Stop by the Friday Mashup blog to see the great creations that the DT has created to inspire you.

    And here my card goes.
To do the starburst technique, I used Summer Smooches DSP (125409). For the flower I used 2-3/8" (118874), 1-3/4" (119854) and 1-1/4" (127811) scallop circle punches. The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set (W 126255, C 126257) and Bitty Banners Framelits (129267). I added the bow using Midnight Muse 3/8" stitched satin ribbon.

Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a wonderful weekend!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
    1. Make a project with the "Sketch".
    2. Or Make a project with the "Starburst technique".
    3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project using the "Sketch and Starburst Technique".

Kiss The Card and a Twist

Hi there! Another fun challenge for Our Creative Corner. This week, your project must show a kiss technique and the letters X and O. Isn't that a fun challenge? I love that technique and it also has some twists. If you go to the OCC blog, you are going to find a tutorial about it, and then you can choose which twist you want to apply to the technique. Don't forget to check the wonderful creations that the DT has prepared to inspire you. Hope to see you in the gallery!

To create my card, first I stamped the background with black with the XOXO stamp with the help of the Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049) on Raspberry Ripple cardstock (126842). Then I distressed the edges. For the black ribbon on the side, I just cut a piece of DSP, pleated it, and added two mini brads (122941) at the ends.

To make the flower, I used the Build a Blossom stamp set (W 121923, C 121994) and the Blossom Petals Builder punch (121808). I applied the kissing technique on the petals. First I inked the XOXO stamp with Raspberry Ripple and the petal stamp from the Build a Blossom stamp set with Pink Pirouette. I kissed both stamps and after that I punch them out. I distressed the petals' edges with Raspberry Ripple, and added a line of pearls in the center of each petal. I don't know if you can see the pearls very well in the pictures, but they really give a nice look to each petal.

For the leaves I inked the leaf stamp from Build a Blossom with Gumball Green and I dragged the dots stamp from For All You Do (115360) against the leaf stamp, which will give those strips to the leaf as you can see in the picture. Then I stamped it on Olive Green cardstock (100702). When the card was done I used the black marker to spritz all over the card.

Hope you like it! Have a wonderful weekend!
    Thanks for stopping by!

Our Creative Corner Resisting Challenge & Twist

What a super fun challenge our talented Lisa is hosting this week at Our Creative Corner. Every single week that I have to create a project for OCC I am so excited about the requirements of the challenge. These challenges are really distinctive. The OCC design team always amazes me with originality, art and the use of different techniques. I love how each of us gives a different interpretation of the challenge. They are true artists, you should go to the OCC  blog and check out all the different creations. I hope you get inspired and participate in our weekly challenges.

Here are the four requirements for this week:
    1-Resist Stamping
2-Describe the technique you used somewhere on your post.
    3- Include Wings
4- It can be a card or a project.

For this card I used Versamark Resist technique, actually my favorite one. To create the background, I clear embossed the hummingbird on a piece of Newsprint Designer Paper. Then I used broken China to give color to the designer paper. The design in the center of the card was embossed with Tangerine Tango embossing powder. The wings of the heart and the banner have been stamped with Black Archival ink, and the heart with red ink. I poured Crystal Effect on the heart to give it shine.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
Hope to see you in the gallery.
