Create background using emboss resist technique with Versamark

I'm finally back on track after a great time in Utah with fellow stampers and friends!
Today I wanted to share with you the tutorial for the embossed background I showed at the Hispanic Night during Convention, so here goes:

This technique is very easy to make and creates a wonderful background that you can customize for any occasion. You will need a stamp set, a Versamark pad, Whisper White cardstock, an ink pad of choice, and if you want to add a touch of another color, a sponge dauber.

First, stamp the image using the Versamark pad on the Whisper White cardstock. For my background, I used the butterfly from the Strength & Hope stamp set. As you stamp, make sure to turn the stamp so that you don't create a perfectly uniform background.

Don't worry! Even though the Versamark ink is clear, you'll be able to see where you stamp.

After you stamped your image, directly apply the ink on your cardstock (I'm using Pool Party ink pad) from the ink pad. You don't need to apply any embossing powder, simply apply the ink and your stamp will show!

Next, with a dry paper towel, rub it on your background to better highlight the stamped area and to absorb any remaining ink.

You're done with the background! It's so easy to make, and you can do it with any stamp and ink pad, for any occasion!

If you want to add an extra touch, you can use the sponge daubers and daub lightly with another color ink. I used Peach Parfait.

You can also add a fun sentiment by stamping on a cardstock, and cutting at an angle so that the sentiment is in the middle. Don't worry, it doesn't have to be perfect, just make sure that the sentiment is parallel with the top and bottom edge of the card.

After you glue your sentiment to the card, cut off the edges.

I then added ribbon on the edges of the cardstock, as shown, to highlight the sentiment.

Almost done!

The final step is to mount your background on top of the card. I mounted it on Early Espresso, which I mounted on Whisper White cardstock.

Finally, you can add a brad as a final embellishment. I hope you like this technique and try it out! It's so easy, and so much fun!

Today I wanted to show you two more cards with the technique I taught yesterday. The card is the same, but one has the sentiment in Spanish, and I actually used the one in Spanish for a swap. Enjoy!

What's Your Technique for PPA100?

For this week's Pals Paper Arts challenge, I wanted to do a technique with embossing. So I decided to remake this technique that I learned a few years back.

First, I stamped a Whisper White cardstock with different colors. For my card, I used the same stamp and just changed the colors. Then I stamped on top with VersaMark, using a different stamp. I sprinkled with some clear embossing powder and heat embossed the VersaMark stamp. Then, I picked a dark color and, with the brayer tool, inked everything I had just stamped. Finally, I passed a paper towel on top of everything to clean out where I had clear embossed, to show the colors underneath and make it stand out from the background.

If you have any questions about this technique, don't hesitate to ask me! I'll be more than happy to explain it to you in detail.

Hope you like my creation! Enjoy!
