FM #74: Give pleats a chance!

This week our talented Amy hosts the challenge at the Friday Mashup. It is a sweet challenge because it is about babies. But besides that, you have to use the pleated technique.

For my card I used an image that could perfectly be painted with watercolor. I've had this stamp set for a while (Two by Two 126788), but I haven't used until now. Does it happen to you that you buy a stamp set because you love that image and then when you receive it, you are so excited that you put it on the shelf and it stays sitting there for I don't know how long? Grrrrrr! I hate when that happens. Now I am a little bit more aware of that, and when I purchase a stamp set I try to use it right away at least once with any project. I am improving a little, lol.

Going back to my card, I cut out the clouds by hand, and stamped some butterflies in the sky.  I am pretty pleased with how my card turned out! Check out the great creations of the DT! Have fun and I hope to see you in the gallery.

Hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!

Recycle it with a pop of green!

Hi there! This week we have a super duper fun challenge at Our Creative Corner. Our talented Kim hosts the challenge this week and her theme is recyling! So you have to create a project using something you have salvaged from somewhere else. You can use any part of an old package, or pages of an old book, or whatever you can reuse from something you are about to throw away. Ahh, and don't forget the color green! But anyway, for more details go to Our Creative Corner blog and check out all the beautiful creations our DT has prepared to inspire you! I really love them all.

It is amazing how many things you can create out of something you consider trash. I had a lot of fun creating my card. I used a page from an old book called The Baby Sitters Club. My daughters used to read these books when they were younger, and they have yellowish pages already but what I really like is that they have a natural vintage look. Then I used the flap of some soap boxes which I kept because of the nice design on them. The flower was made out of a clear plastic box lid, which I ran through the Big Shot to cut it in that shape. I also had an old school paper from which I cut out the tag. As you can see, there are a lot of things in my stash which I've been keeping for a long time because there was something in them that I liked and I kept for future uses. So this challenge is perfect to use those materials!

Thanks a lot Kim for this creative and green challenge.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Desk holder for Our Creative Corner

This week we have a challenge with office supplies. Yes, you read correctly, with all the bits and pieces floating around that belong in the office, such as staples, post-it-notes, sticky tape, etc. you have to create a card. For more details go to Our Creative Corner blog and check out the challenge and look at the fabulous creations that the DT has prepared to keep your juices flowing!

This time I haven't made a card. I thought that to create something for my desk was going to be more useful. I used a clear frame, added post-it-notes and decorated them with a red border and added a twine bow and a button on top. I put a piece of red cardstock in the back and at the bottom of the frame I added a piece of magnet, so that the paper clips can stick together on that place, to be handy when they are needed. I used one pen, with a screw-on top, and decorated the inside with a piece of DSP to match with the rest of the project. Hope you like it!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Getting sketchy for FM #72

Wow! I can't believe that school starts next week here in South Florida, which means that summer is over for me. My little one, who is 13, will start 8th grade. This is going to be a very busy school year for me because I'll be involved in the organization for her graduation in Middle School...anyway everything came to my mind because of the fact that schools starts so soon! But I am going to take it one step at a time and I won't get stressed before time and I'll enjoy our FM weekly challenge.

This week Amanda is our hostess and she's got a great sketch for everyone.

A very casual challenge for OCC

Happy Saturday to everyone!  Another challenge for Our Creative Corner. If you haven't participated yet, don't hesitate to do it. You are going to have a lot of fun!

This week our talented Paula hosts the challenge. It is an interesting challenge which you cannot miss. Here is the recipe:

Check out the creations that the OCC team has prepared to inspire you.

To create my card, I used two different types of ribbon, Summer Starfruit (126846) and Gumball Green (126848), and the third one is the Linen Thread (194199) that is holding the pennants. As part of the recipe the three buttons are there, and I cut out a piece of denim to create one of the pennants. The sentiment "Celebrate," from Fabulous Phrases (W 117002, C 120501), is on another piece of denim.

Black and white for Friday Mashup #71

Hi there! Our talented Tara hosts the Friday Mashup challenge this week. I can say that this is an elegant challenge, lol, because we have to dress up in black and white. I am ready for the party!

Whenever I see something in black and white, it reminds me of celebration and specifically related to wedding, anniversary, or a very important event. I created my card around that idea. I embossed the background with the new embossing folder Argyle (127750), and punched out the butterflies with the new punch Elegant Butterfly (127526). I mounted two ribbons, the black ribbon on top of the white ribbon and placed a white button in the middle. I added rhinestones on the scalloped edge and pearls in the body of the butterflies to bright it up a little bit. The occasion for this card is anniversary, and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes (W 115370, C 127802)

Our Creative Corner: Bling and Nature

Wow it is amazing how fast every week goes by. And it is summer, when it is supposed to be more calm and relaxing! I think that everybody tries to catch up with a lot of stuff that we've left behind during the rest of the year, so there is not enough time, right?

Here we are with another challenge for Our Creative Corner. This week we have Paula hosting this fun challenge where you have to use rhinestones, stickles, glitter, etc along with items found in nature (plants, animals, etc). A bit of bling mixed with nature.

To create this card, I keep using the new Stampin' UP! Core'dinations Cardstock (Cherry Cobbler 127846) and the Stampin' Sanding System (129367). I love the distressed look that it gives to your card. I also used the new Fancy Fan Embossing Folder (127751). The flowers are from Stippled Blossoms (C 126747), and the sentiment is from Loving Thoughts (C 125845). If you noticed, I have used exactly the same stamp sets as yesterday, which gives you an idea of how versatile those sets are. I blinged up the center of my flowers with rhinestones, and used Dazzling Details (124117) for the leaves...I hope you can see it in the picture.

I am looking forward to seeing your creations this week. Hope to see you all there. Check out  the OCC blog to see what the DT has created for you!

Friday Mashup #70

Hi there! It's been a busy week but here we are with another challenge at the Friday Mashup. This week our talented designer Erica hosts the challenge. It is a fun challenge that you won't want to miss, so get ready to create a vintage card or a card with a pin or mash it up and create a vintage card with a pin.

I got inspired by the new products in our Holiday Catalog, which is available now (if you want to see it, you can click on the image in the left sidebar). So I used the new Stampin' UP! Early Espresso Core'dinations Card Stock (127848), the Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (127819), and the Stampin' Sanding System (129367) to create the background. It is so much fun to emboss the cardstock and then rub the sanding block all over the embossing. I love to create this kind of distressing, especially for a vintage card. Then I stamped the solid big flower from Stippled Blossoms (W 126745, C 126747) in Summer Starfruit ink (126991) and then the coordinating flower in Cajun Craze in (126965) on Very Vanilla cardstock. I did the same with the leaves using Lucky Limeade (126984) and Gumball Green (126861).

I am fascinated by the effect that Stippled Blossoms stamps give to your card, because you have to work with two colors, which give a sense of depth. For the edge on the left side in Cherry Cobbler, I used the new Finishing Touches Edgelits (127010). The sentiment is from Loving Thoughts (W 125843, C 125845).

Check out the FM blog to see the creations that the DT has made to get your mojo flowing!
