It's a Purple and Silver Christmas at OCC

This week the talented and lovely Chris is the hostess of the challenge at Our Creative Corner. Her theme is a Purple and Silver Christmas. So she is challenging us to use purple and silver for our project. You can use other colors too, just as long as purple and silver are the main colors.

So roll up your sleeves, visit the OCC blog to look at what the DT has come up with and get inspired to participate in our challenge!

I got inspired by Heather Telford. She explained the technique she used in Snowflake Collage very easily and I thought it was very convenient for this challenge. I am pleased with how my card came out, it was so much fun and I hope you give it a try too!

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!

FM #89: Time to get clean

Hello everyone! Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we all feel about the tragedy that happened in Newton, Connecticut. All those families are in my prayers, God bless you all!

Another week's challenge at the Friday Mashup. This time the talented and lovely Tara is our hostess, and what she wants for this challenge is to go back to basics by making a clean and simple card, and if you want to, mash it up with heat embossing. Please visit the Friday Mashup blog to get inspired by the wonderful creations the DT came up with. I love them all.

As you can see my design is pretty simple. I used the Festival of Prints DSP Stack (126904), Winter Memories stamp set (W127934  C127937). The image was embossed with Pewter embossing powder (124114) and the bow was made with Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon (122332).

The Paper Players # 125

Hello everybody! This week for the Paper Players  Nance hosts the challenge with her favorite color combo.

I got inspired by a card I've seen on the internet, I cannot remember the artist so if you recognize the design please let me know your name so I can give you the proper credit. What captured my attention about that card was the snowflake, which is a die that was featured in our Holiday catalog (127813). I used the Finishing Touches edgelits (127010)to create the borders on the sides of the vertical panel. I stamped the Silent Night tree from the Evergreen stamp set (127973) in Cherry Cobbler to give interest to the vertical panel, probably not noticeable on the photo.

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!

Our Creative Corner "One Stich at a Time"

This week it is my turn to be hostess at the Our Creative Corner. I really love how fabrics and stitching look on cards or any project. I think that makes the project different and unique so that is why I decided to use fabrics in any part of your card, either as a flower, a small embellishment, or whatever your want!  I also want to see stitching either faux stitching or machine stitching. Please specify where your used your fabric if it is not noticeable in the project.  Have fun!

In my card I used  Stampin Up Beau Chateau Fabric (122336) for the background, and  Spice Cake (124066) for the vertical panel and the Christmas tree. The stitching is made with the sewing machine and by hand on the tree. Hope you like it!

Check out the wonderful creations the Design Team has prepared for your inspiration! I love them all, they already inspired me! Hope you get inspired and participate in this challenge!

Because I got so into this challenge I created an ornament using the same fabrics.

The Paper Players #124 Snowmen

It's time for another fun challenge at the Paper Players. This week's theme is "Snowmen." I got inspired by the Cards magazine to create this card. I used Winter Memories stamp set ( c 127937) and Serene Snowflakes to stamp the background. The doily is from the Perfect Pennants Bigz L (123126). I  don't know if you can tell from the photo that I applied Dazzling details (124117) all around the circle with the image.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Stamping!

FM #89 We're getting Sketchy!

Hi everyone! It's time for another challenge at the Friday Mashup! This week is Erica's turn to be our hostess and she brought this sketch for our challenge. So if you want to participate you can create a project using that sketch and if you want to mash it up just add some bling. Hope you get inspired by my card and the rest of the Design Team creations. Bottle Labels

A friend of mine asked me to make some samples to dress up a wine bottle, to give away to her employees for the Holidays. I came up with these two designs. She picked the one with the stockings.
I hope you like them and inspire you to prepare some for your holidays.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good day!

Santa Claus is Coming!!!

I love, love Christmas time. I could create Christmas cards and projects all year around. This week the talented Irena is our hostess and her challenge for Our Creative Corner is to create a project with Santa Claus image and in vintage style. There should also be something red (button, ribbon, brad).

I've been using Core'dinations cardstock since it came out in the Holiday Mini Catalogue. I really like to work with it for the look it gives when you distress it with the sanding block system. Any embossing folder that you use looks great. In this card I used the Holiday Frame embossing folder (127820), Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations card stock (127846),  the Stampin' Sanding Block (129367), and the Scalloped Tulle Ribbon (127841). The addition of the key was to see if I can open Santa's bag to get a glimpse of what is inside, lol.

I hope I have inspired you to play along with us at Our Creative Corner this week. Be sure to check out   the interpretations of the challenge from the Design Team.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

The Paper Players Challenge #123

I am so happy to come back to participate in the Paper Players challenge. It has been a long time since I have created cards for their challenges. Things got complicated in my life and too many things  going on that I couldn't concentrate on making cards for different challenges as I used to.
When situations in life make you take another path, and you get confused about what you are doing, you forget what you really love to do. I think that it happens to everyone and what's important about it is how much you learn on that detour and when you come back to where your passion is, you do it with much more energy and determination.

I've read that The Paper Players are searching for Guest Designers so I decided to create this card not only for the fun of it but to submit it for the GD position also. I flipped the sketch over because the image I wanted to use fitted better that way.

The stamp set I used for this card is one of my favorites for Christmas, Come to Bethlehem (W 118732 C 120591) which was embossed using the Early Espresso Embossing powder (128980). I love the calligraphy that the sentiment has, isn't that neat? For the distressed background I used the Fancy Fan embossing folder (127751) , the Early Espresso Core'dinations card stock (127848) and the stampin sanding system (129367).

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

FM # 87

Wow, it is amazing how fast the year flew by. Christmas is weeks away  and with that comes the rush of the holiday season. At the Friday Mashup this week, our talented Lisa is our hostess and she would like us to create a project using the inspiration photo or make a tag, or a gift card holder. Hope you get inspired by the creations of the Design Team and participate in this challenge.

I created a gift box and at the same time an ornament for your Christmas tree. You can use it either way. I used the Petal Cone Bigz L (121810) and the Priority Mail hostess stamp set ( W127042 C 127044). On top of the snowflakes I glued a Vintage Faceted Designer Button (127555). The punches I used to cut out the sentiments are Postage Stamp (122344) and Modern Label (119849).

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project using "the inspiration photo".
  2. Or Make a"Gift project".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "project for a gift using the inspiration photo above".

Foil and Alcohol Inks Challenge

Hello dear followers.  For this week's challenge, Sue is our hostess and she would like us to use foil and alcohol ink for our project. Check out Our Creative Corner blog to see the details for this challenge and to get inspired by the wonderful projects the design team has created.

Before I get into my card let me tell you:  Please, Please read the post!

Total number of Challenges you are allowed to enter is:
 FOUR, including Our Creative Corner!

Last week we had a lot of amazing entries for Sue's challenge "Make your own background" but unfortunately several of them have been disqualified because the entrants had participated in too many challenges. It is a rule that we have made and we have to stick to it. Please follow the rule we have set,  enter your amazing creations and have the chance to be our next Top Talent, where your blog and creations will be spotlighted.

Now back to may card. My foil and alcohol ink has been applied on the ornament.
- First I glued foil in a piece of cardstock.
- Then I ran it through the Big Shot using the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder (127751) to emboss it.
- I sponged alcohol inks on top, let them dry and created the ornament.

Note: To have foil in the front and on the back I glued two pieces of ornament (back to back) together and then I glued them to the base the way it is on the card.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

FM #85

Hi there! So glad to be here with you for another challenge at the Friday Mashup. Leaves, that is the theme for this week's challenge, and because Thanksgiving is next week, Rita, our hostess, thought that it would be nice to mash it up with a Thank You card. I think that everybody is thankful for something, so let's get creative and prepare a project for this challenge. Check out the wonderful creations that the Design Team has created to get you in the Thanksgiving mood.

I created my card by painting with watercolors. I just added some colors to a wet piece of watercolor paper. When it was dry I added more color but this time with a brush I gave shape to the trees. As you can see there is no defined lines, they are blurry shapes giving the look of trees in the background. Once it is dry I stamped the letters from the French Foliage stamp set ( W120845 C 121166).

In another wet  piece of watercolor paper I poured some colors. When it was dry, I cut the leaves using the Bigz Die Autumn Accents which I run through the Big Shot. I stamped the acorns from the Wonderfall stamp set (W128084  C128087) on a piece of designer paper, cut them out with the scissors. The Thank You sentiment was handwritten using the Stampin' Dazzle marker (128979).

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project with "Leaves".
  2. Or Make a project saying "Thank You".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Thank You project with Leaves".

Make your own background for OCC

Hello dear followers! Today I bring you my card following the challenge at Our Creative Corner. This week you have to make your own background without using any designer paper. Our talented Sue is the hostess for this week's challenge. Go to Our Creative Corner blog to look at the details of this challenge and to get inspired by the amazing creations that the design team has created. I love them all!!!

My background was created using distress inks:
- First I clear embossed the bird and branch where the bird is sitting.
- I then stamped the branches in the background.
- After that, I used different distress inks to give color and cover the whole background. When I got the desired effect, I placed inked cardstock between newsprint and ironed over the paper to remove the embossing powder from the image. I removed the cardstock from between the newspaper while hot.
- When it was cool, I flicked some water over the image to give that spotted look. Because I removed all the embossing powder, the bird looks like it is in the foreground while the rest of the card stays in the background.
- I stamped the sentiment in a funny way by just cutting the cardstock in an irregular way, which makes you look at the sentiment without distracting so much from the background.

Hope you like it! I had a lot of fun creating it!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!

FM 84! Hey Hey Boss Man!

This week's challenge for the Friday Mashup blog is to create a project using dry embossing and/or Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray & Basic Black. Holly hosts this challenge and the photo inspiration she picked for this challenge is gorgeous. I love how those colors go together, and that picture inspires me to create any project. It is amazing how Autumn can enhance all those colors in nature. I love it!
Check out the wonderful creations the Design Team has come up with to set you in a creative mood!

For the card I created for this challenge, I used the Fancy Fan embossing folder (127751) to create the dry embossing in the background. Then I stamped the image from Wonderful Winterland (W123817 C123819) with StaZon (101406), and color it in using SU! markers. I added the glitter with Dazzling Details Cherry Cobbler (125585) and Clear (124117). To cut the image out I ran it through the big shot using the Label Collection Framelits (125598). For the strips on the side I stamped the images from Border Banter (W128927 C128930) and cut each of them out. The sentiment is from Winter Memories (W127934 C127937). I added pearls (119247) as a final touch.

Masking for Halloween!!!

Our Creative Corner is masking for Halloween! This is our challenge this week: to make a project featuring Halloween theme and using Masking Technique. The card that I created not only uses the Masking Technique but also the Bleaching Technique.

First I embossed the image with the witch with black embossing powder (109133), bleached out the moon and painted with yellow marker. Then I masked that image and stamped the graveyard and the fences. To stamp all those images I used the same stamp set Toxic Treats (W 127898 C 127901). I distressed the edges and rolled in the corner. Hope you like it! Boo!

Our talented Marcy is the host for this week's challenge. The Design Team has created wonderful projects to get you in the spooky mood of Halloween. Stop by the OCC blog to check them out.
Get inspired and I hope to see you in the gallery!

Clean and Simple Kitchen

After almost two weeks out of the country, more specifically in Argentina visiting friends and relatives, I am back in business. I have to admit that I had the most wonderful time with my loved ones.

As you could see I haven't posted anything for that period of time. I know that you are probably wondering why I didn't schedule some posts so my blog could have some activity while I was gone, but to be honest I am always behind with everything. I try to organize myself and do things ahead of time but for one reason or another something comes up and I end up running behind again. I've been trying to do it in an organized way, but I always have things that come up at the last minute that change my plans.  I don't know if it is because I am a multi-task person, lack of organization or what, but I had to learn and accept that for me things are like that, and I have to go with the flow. Sometimes there are certain situations that I consider out of my hands but at the last moment everything falls into place like magic. So after this apology for being absent for almost two weeks, I want to encourage you to create a card or project for Our Creative Corner this week.

This week our talented Meihsia is the host  at OCC. You have to create a clean and simple card or project with something you would see in the kitchen. Pretty simple ha! Visit  Our Creative Corner blog to see all the wonderful creations the design team has created to inspire you!! Hope to see all of you at the gallery!

I created this card using the Perfectly Preserved stamp set ( W 126690 C 126692), and the corresponding Framelits Dies Cannery Set (127822). The DSP is Orchard Harvest (126895), the button is from Natural Designer Buttons (127554) and the twine is Cherry Cobbler (123125).

Happy stamping! Have a wonderful weekend!

FM #78 .... Let's Get Twiney!!

Wow we are having wonderful challenges lately! Ok, I really love all our challenges but this time of the year is so special for me. Those who know me know that I love cold weather, and we don't have cold weather here in Miami! At least not the cold I love and I am used to before I came to live in Miami, and sadly I can't get used to this type of heat. Besides the weather, my family's birthdays and my favorite holidays are during this time of the year. As you can see there are several reasons I love the second half of the year, and because of that I am enjoying so much our challenges which are related to autumn and the colors that we have to use to create our projects (Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard) energize me.

Back to our weekly challenge in The Friday Mashup, we have to create a card or project using leaves and /or twine. Lisa is our host this week and she is a winter girl, woohoo way to go girl. If you visit the Friday Mashup blog you can see  all the wonderful creations the Design Team has come up with to keep you inspired. Hope to see all of you in the gallery!!

To create my card I used Day of Gratitude stamp set ( W120835 C 121148), Window Frames Collection (129021). I painted the stamp with Early Espresso marker (119680), Pumpkin Pie marker (105115), Cherry Cobbler marker (119681), Gumball Green marker (126856) and Daffodil Delight marker (119677). I  created the spattered look using the Color Spritzer Tool (107066) and the Early Espresso marker.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!
Happy stamping!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a "Fall Leaves" themed project.
  2. Or Make a project with "Twine".

    Photo Inspiration Challenge

Hi to all my dear followers! What a fun challenge we have this week at Our Creative Corner. It consists on creating a card/project using the photo as inspiration, two or more buttons and polka dots somewhere. Check the Our Creative Corner blog for more details and to see what the DT has created to  keep your creative juices flowing.

I created my card using the colors of the photo, two buttons which are one on top of the other, and the polka dots designer papers on the stripes.  I wasn't very inspired when I made this card so I tried to keep it simple, and I am pleased on how it came out. Hope you like it!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

FM #77: Indian Summer, the dead summer's soul

Good morning from this part of the world! Today we have the new challenge for the Friday Mashup and one of my favorite themes "Indian Summer", where the colors for this challenge energize me: Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Lucky Limemade and More Mustard.

I love, love fall and I am so ready to have it here. It doesn't happen here in Miami though, but I dream with the gorgeous array of colors that pop out in the trees during this time of the year in other parts of the country.

So as I told you, I got very inspired by this challenge that our talented Heidi has prepared for us this week. To create my card, I embossed a piece of Early Espresso Core'dination Cardstock using the new Fancy Fan Folder (127751) and then sanded it with the new Sandin' System (129367). I also used the Labels Collection Framelits (125598) to open the window to be able to stamp the sentiment, which is from the Word Play stamp set (W 120308, C 120651). The leaves from the French Foliage stamp set (121166) were stamped using the colors of the challenge, cut out and with dimensionals added to the card. The button is from Natural Designs Buttons (127554) and the bow was made out of Linen Thread (104199). Hope you like it!!

Thanks for stopping by and check out the FM blog to get inspired by the creations of the rest of the DT.

    Have a wonderful weekend!!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
    1. Make a "Indian Summer" themed project.
    2. Or Make a project with any three colors from "Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Raspberry Ripple, Lucky Limeade & Early Espresso".
