Freshly Made Sketches # 35

Another card for Freshly Made Sketches. Instead of using designer paper for the central panel, I decided to stamp flowers from the Mixed Bunch stamp set (125537) in different colors and create the background.

Happy Birthday for The Paper Players and Retrosketches

Hi, another gloomy day here in Miami. I love the weather like that. It gives me a sort of calm and relaxed concentration on what I am doing. I love sunny days but I also like gray and cloudy days. I think that those days make everything and everybody think and meditate, and make me charge my energy to enjoy more fully those sunny days when you can burn your energy doing some outdoor activities. The card that I created today has nothing to do with the weather, lol, but I felt like saying something about the weather because we don't have many days like that and I enjoy that type of weather a lot.

I combined two challenges: The Paper Players #95 and Retrosketches #11. I decided to make a card for a birthday using several stamp sets. I hope you like the way it came out.

Hola, otro día nublado aquí en Miami. Me encanta el tiempo como este. Me da la sensación de calma y relax, y concentración en lo que estoy haciendo. Me encantan también los días soleados pero también me gustan mucho los días grises y lluviosos. Creo que esos días hacen a todos pensar y meditar, y me hacen cargar mi energía para disfrutar mas intensamente los días soleados donde se pueden quemar las calorías haciendo actividades afuera. La tarjeta que hice hoy no tiene nada que ver con el tiempo, pero sentí que tenía que decir algo sobre el tiempo porque no tenemos muchos días así y me encanta ese tiempo.


Combiné dos challenges: The Paper Players #95 y Retrosketches #11. Decidí hacer una tarjeta para cumpleaños usando varios set de sellos. Espero les guste como me ha quedado.

The Friday Mashup #55

The challenge for this week is to make a project using the sketch or make a project using the "Ghosting (aka VersaMark Resist) Technique" or mash it up and create a project using the sketch and ghosting technique. So I mashed it up and I used the sketch and the technique. I applied the technique to the background where I stamped the presents for the birthday, and on the two red big balloons. For the background I used regular Whisper White cardstock, and applied the ink directly from the pad, I didn't use the daubers. For the balloons I applied the technique on glossy paper and used the daubers to apply the ink. Let me tell you that the difference is that on the glossy paper the technique is more visible than on the regular cardstock, which gives a more subtle look. Everything depends on the effect that you are looking for. Hope you like it!

My favorite color is orange. I think that it is a vibrant and energetic color, and this week the colourQ challenge color combo has Pumpkin Pie in it, and I love to combine any color with it. My favorite combinations are blue or green with orange, and black with orange.

The Friday Mashup #54

This week's challenge is for kids. The reason why is because April is Autism Awareness Month and the month of the Military Child, so the theme for Friday Mashup #54 is to create a card with the colors of your favorite Muppet, or a card for kids.

I created a birthday invitation with the colors of Miss Piggy, but I couldn't resist the temptation to create Miss Piggy with punches. I love the Paper Punch Addiction site, and I really admire those talented artists creating animals and any figure with punches, but I am not good at that at all. But because I got inspired with Miss Piggy, I decided to give it a try and use my punches, and after all she came out cute! Don't you think so? Hope you like it! Enjoy!

The Paper Players #89

Another week for The Paper Players challenge. The theme is a funny theme, so you can start crackin' up, lol. I am not kidding, the theme is "Tickle your Funnybone" so what else can you do than laugh. If you go to the challenge, you are going to see how many wonderful creations are there and really so funny.

So here is my creation, with a desperate chicken trying to blow off the candles on the cake that probably will catch on fire for the amount of candles that are on it. Hope you like it! Enjoy! Have a great day!

Our Creative Corner and Retrosketches #2

Another card for two challenges, Our Creative Corner: Papercraft Tic Tac Toe and Retrosketches #2. For the Our Creative Corner challenge, I picked pink, stickers and ribbon. Very few times have I decorated a card with stickers, but it is so much fun and faster.

Retrosketches is a new challenge that started last week and I couldn't participate in the #1 challenge, but I didn't want to miss the chance to participate this week, so I decided to follow this sketch with the Tic Tac Toe theme of Our Creative Corner. Hope you like it! Enjoy!

Pals Paper Art #130

It's been a while since the last time I have participated in the Pals Paper Art Challenge. For this challenge, we have to use Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke and another color of your choice, which in my card is Pink Pirouette. I took the idea to create this card from Clean & Simple Card Making Online Classes. Unfortunately, I won't explain how I made it because I don't want to take credit away from the creators of the class. Sorry.

What I can tell you is that I used Always Artichoke ink to stamp the flowers for the background. I created the "kind of chipboard" flowers by punching out four flowers with Pink Pirouette cardstock for each flower. Then I glued the four flowers together making sure to align all the petals. Et voilà! The flower is done and with a pop up look without using dimensionals.

Another card for Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. I decided to create a happy birthday card because there will never be too many. I combined the Designer Series Paper Big Top Birthday with the Up, Up and Away Stamp Set. I think that both match very well for the occasion.

Happy Birthday for Friday Mashup

This is my first time participating in the Friday Mashup challenge. The theme is birthday and/or to work with pastels, so I decided to use a technique that I presented at a Stampin' UP! regional which involves using pastels to create a custom background. For this particular card, I used Red Riding Hood and Pacific Point pastels to create the background, then I clear embossed the "happy birthday" with the cupcakes on top, and I fixed the pastel onto the cardstock with regular hair spray. If you don't spray any fixative, the pastels don't get adhered to the cardstock.
I didn't add much to the card because I didn't want it to detract from the background.
