New Catalog products

Hello! Today I'm going to show you some cards I made for a workshop I had recently using products from the new catalog. I don't know about you but I love the new catalog. I hope you already have a copy of it in your hands, if you don't and you are interested in having one, just send me an email. You can also download it if you click on the image of the catalog to the right.

This is my first card:

I started by spraying Hello Honey with some water in a spritzer onto white cardstock. When it was bone dry, I stamped the different images from the Work of Art stamp set (Wood 134111, Clear 134114) using the new In Color ink pads which are Mossy Meadow (133645), Hello Honey (133643), and Lost Lagoon (133644). I used the Tape it stamp set  (Wood 130712, Clear 130715) and the new In Color Blackberry Bliss ink (133642) for the purple tape. I also used Blackberry Bliss cardstock (133675) for the base of the card.

Tip: When I stamped the chevron from the Work of Art stamp set, I first inked the stamp with Lost Lagoon and then I sprayed it with a spritzer (which was filled with water and a couple of Hello Honey ink drops). The reaction of the blue ink on the stamp and the yellow from spray gave me that green shade.

Another card I prepared for the workshop:

I took the idea for this card from a video on You Tube but unfortunately, I can't give them credit. When I tried to look for the video again i was unable to find it. If the person who came up with this technique sees this post please let me know so I can give you the proper credit. By the way I really enjoyed doing this technique because I love to create backgrounds and I thought it would be great for the workshop (which by the way was a success) and  I would be able to use the new In Color inks like watercolors.

First I created the background on a piece of watercolor paper. I wetted the paper using Aqua Painters (103954). With the same brush and the paper still wet I started adding colors from the ink pads in Hello Honey (133643), Blackberry Bliss (133642), Tangelo Twist (133646), and a touch of Lost Lagoon (133644). Try not to mix complementary colors like Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss, because they will create mud colors. When you apply the colors don't go over to blend them, just apply them in a horizontal motion and where each color meets leave them alone. Since the paper is still wet, the colors will blend together by themselves.

After the paper is completely dry,  stamp the butterfly from Papillon Potpourri ( Wood 132058, Clear 123759), and the chevron from Work of Art (Wood  129165,  Clear 134114). So the background is ready. The hexagon layer on top was created by using the Hexagon Hive die (132965), which was then embossed with gold embossing powder (109129).

I hope I inspired you to create your own backgrounds. Please don't hesitate to contact me for any questions you might have.

Happy stampin! Thanks for stopping by!

Long time no see!

Hello, hello everybody. I know you have probably been wondering where I was all this time without showing up on my blog. Let me tell you that I have been doing a lot of things such as taking Photoshop classes, watercolor classes, and doing  photography. All of them take a lot of time and my poor blog was left behind, but let's not say it was left behind, I want to say I gave him a vacation, yes it was enjoying not doing much lol, for these past few months. That doesn't mean I haven't made cards, it just wasn't as often as it used to be.

I am back in business and I would like to share a very simple card with you. I was inspired by Nichole Heady and the simplicity and elegance of the card caught my attention.

I used baker's twine and the Project Life journaling pen (135304) to draw the stitches around the main panel. The card is made with Stampin Up Whisper White (100730) and Crumb Cake cardstock (120953). The stamp sets I used  are both discontinued (sorry about that) Fox & Friends and Simply Sketched. Both are on sale if you are interested in purchasing them, just send me an email.

Have a wonderful day! Happy Stamping!
