Monochromatic!

Welcome to a new Friday Mashup challenge and a sneak peek at the new Stampin' Up 2013-2014 catalog and new products will be available in June. For inspiration check out the rest of the Friday Mashup team and play along!

The challenge calls for monochromatic scheme and/or using baking twine. I stamped part of the Wildflower Meadow stamp on the focal point and I embossed it with Melon Mambo embossing powder. The paper is from  Gingham Garden and for  the banners I used washi tape that combines perfectly with the rest of the card. The sentiment is from Loving thoughts (Wood 125843 Clear 125845)

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Chalkboard technique

Happy Friday everyone! Amy is the hostess of this week's challenge at the Friday Mashup. She wants us to create a project using the chalkboard technique, which by the way is very popular now, and use two or more stamp sets.

I was inspired by Lisa Young and Betsy Veldman. They have created beautiful cards applying this technique and Betsy has a tutorial on how to do the technique. Visit their blogs and you are going to get inspired too, as well as the Friday Mashup blog where there is a display of wonderful creations from the design team.

Get Crazy with Markers!!

Hello dear followers! Today I am bringing another card I created for our weekly challenge at the Friday Mashup blog. Tara is our hostess and her challenge is to create a project using markers in any way you can imagine, and if you want, mash it up with texture.

I started with a 4" by 5 1/4" of Raspberry Ripple which I embossed using the Fancy Fan Folder (127751). The DSP panel is 2 1/2" by 3 1/2" from  In Color Designer Series Paper Stacks  2012-2014 (126910). The vertical panel is a 4 1/2" by 4 1/4" piece of Pool Party Coordination cardstock, which I embossed with the Woodgrain embossing folder (127821). I cut the panel where the butterfly lies out of Apothecary Accents Framelits (127003). I stamped the butterfly from Papillon Potpourri ( W123757 C 123759) with Stazon (101406) on watercolor paper, painted it with In Color markers 2012-2014 (126856), and cut it out with the Elegant Butterfly punch (127526). The sentiment is from one of my favorite stamp sets, Loving Thoughts ( W 125843 C 125845). Hope you get inspired enough to participate in the challenge.

White with a Decorative Edge

This week it is my turn to host our weekly challenge at Our Creative Corner. I love winter and snow, so based on that my challenge's theme is white on white with a decorative edge. Your card or project must be entirely white with the exception of the sentiment, which can be any color you want. Any embellishments you use have to be white as well and if you are using rhinestones they have to be silver.

White on white has a very elegant look, and in any occasion for which you make a card or project you cannot go wrong and it looks so classy, don't you think so?

Please visit Our Creative Corner blog to check out the amazing creations the DT has prepared for your inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy stamping!

Our Creative Corner: Bling and Nature

Wow it is amazing how fast every week goes by. And it is summer, when it is supposed to be more calm and relaxing! I think that everybody tries to catch up with a lot of stuff that we've left behind during the rest of the year, so there is not enough time, right?

Here we are with another challenge for Our Creative Corner. This week we have Paula hosting this fun challenge where you have to use rhinestones, stickles, glitter, etc along with items found in nature (plants, animals, etc). A bit of bling mixed with nature.

To create this card, I keep using the new Stampin' UP! Core'dinations Cardstock (Cherry Cobbler 127846) and the Stampin' Sanding System (129367). I love the distressed look that it gives to your card. I also used the new Fancy Fan Embossing Folder (127751). The flowers are from Stippled Blossoms (C 126747), and the sentiment is from Loving Thoughts (C 125845). If you noticed, I have used exactly the same stamp sets as yesterday, which gives you an idea of how versatile those sets are. I blinged up the center of my flowers with rhinestones, and used Dazzling Details (124117) for the leaves...I hope you can see it in the picture.

I am looking forward to seeing your creations this week. Hope to see you all there. Check out  the OCC blog to see what the DT has created for you!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Mashup #70

Hi there! It's been a busy week but here we are with another challenge at the Friday Mashup. This week our talented designer Erica hosts the challenge. It is a fun challenge that you won't want to miss, so get ready to create a vintage card or a card with a pin or mash it up and create a vintage card with a pin.

I got inspired by the new products in our Holiday Catalog, which is available now (if you want to see it, you can click on the image in the left sidebar). So I used the new Stampin' UP! Early Espresso Core'dinations Card Stock (127848), the Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (127819), and the Stampin' Sanding System (129367) to create the background. It is so much fun to emboss the cardstock and then rub the sanding block all over the embossing. I love to create this kind of distressing, especially for a vintage card. Then I stamped the solid big flower from Stippled Blossoms (W 126745, C 126747) in Summer Starfruit ink (126991) and then the coordinating flower in Cajun Craze in (126965) on Very Vanilla cardstock. I did the same with the leaves using Lucky Limeade (126984) and Gumball Green (126861).

I am fascinated by the effect that Stippled Blossoms stamps give to your card, because you have to work with two colors, which give a sense of depth. For the edge on the left side in Cherry Cobbler, I used the new Finishing Touches Edgelits (127010). The sentiment is from Loving Thoughts (W 125843, C 125845).

Check out the FM blog to see the creations that the DT has made to get your mojo flowing!

Our Creative Corner / Color Throwdown #192

"Practice makes perfect." You will probably be wondering what that saying has to do with my post. Well, what I noticed today is how confident I feel creating cards. To me it is a big accomplishment. I participated in different challenges and won some but that doesn't mean that I felt confident about myself. They are two different things, and the confidence that someone can acquire is because you stay concentrated and focused on what you are doing. Besides, being constant helps me a lot. Maybe this is very common knowledge for you but for me it was a discovery, because one thing is to say it and another is to feel it. At this moment I FEEL confident, and it is amazing how everything flows in the way it has to be, only because of practice, confidence, consistency, and love in everything I do. I want to take this moment to thank all of you for following and keeping me creating to inspire you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I combined two challenges this time, Our Creative Corner and Color Throwdown #192. For Our Creative Corner there is a sketch to follow which I combined with the colors of Color Throwdown. Hope you like it! Sorry but for picture reason you can't probably see the correct color of the bow which is Melon Mambo.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day full of inspiration!

Gracias, gracias, gracias!!

He combinado dos challenges esta vez, Our Creative Corner y Color Throwdown #192.

The Friday Mashup #50

This week for The Friday Mashup Challenge, we have to create a card following the sketch or applying the Faux Mother Pearl Technique by Heidi Baks. I decided to mash it up and do both, and if you haven't tried that technique you should try it. It is very simple and it gives a beautiful look to your card.

I like the way my vintage card turned out. I didn't mean to make a vintage card, but as usual, I start with one idea and end up with a card completely different than the one I had in mind. Does that happen to you? But I enjoy the whole process so it is ok with me. Enjoy!

Thanks for popping by! Have a great day!
Lili
